Mission Statement

The Friends of the Washington Carnegie Public Library work to provide extra resources for the programs and materials for the library and to focus the attention of the community on its most valuable asset, its library. Membership is open to all who share these goals.

History of Our Club

In October 1999 an organizational meeting was held at the library to see if there was interest in forming a Friends of the Library group in Washington. Six concerned citizens met the following week to form the steering committee. By December of that year the constitution, mission statement and by-laws had been established. In Janurary 2000 Friends of the Washington Carnegie Public Library was incorporated and we were on our way.

Since that time a group of hard working "Friends" members has raised money through membership drives and book sales, helped with library programs and has been instrumental in finding ways to preserve the many reels of microfilm for future generations.
